I am proud to be the Federal Member for the Electorate of Mallee, the largest electorate
in Victoria.

Covering 32.5% of the state,
the Mallee contributes $5.3 billion to the Australian economy every year.

About Andrew Broad MP

I have a background in cereal, oilseed and prime lamb farming, buying my first property when I was 22. I also have 16 years of small business experience.

In 2006 I won the Nuffield Scholarship which gave me the chance to study agriculture in over 40 countries. I gained valuable experience and knowledge during that time and I apply what I learnt to everything I do.

Deeply committed to supporting Australian farming, I am the former President of the Victorian Farmers Federation and former Director of the National Farmers Federation. I have also sat on the board of Australian Made, Australian Grown.

I still have my farm and I'm a keen musician, in my spare time. For me, the best part of being the Federal Member for Mallee is working to ensure country people are recognised for their contribution to Australia.

I believe small business is the driver of the Australian economy. It's the pursuits and endeavours of individual Australians that create the wealth and prosperity that we often take for granted.

I am unashamed to say that we should favour Australia first in access to agricultural land, in defence policy, in trade policy and in natural resources.

The Future

I believe a strong economy provides Australians with the resources to properly fund health and education systems and create opportunities for the next generation.

With global dynamics changing, the concentration of wealth is shifting from Europe and the USA to the Asia Pacific region. This change will have implications for Australia and I'm passionate about ensuring we are appropriately placed in terms of policy to adapt to this shift.

I want to see a parliamentary system that Australians can once again be proud of. I hope for our leaders to be statesmen and women, who govern for the next generation not just the next election.

Australia may no longer ride on the sheep’s back but I'm confident that the increasing demand in soft commodities and the rise in wealth in Asia present many new opportunities for those in our country who seek them.

I am a member of:

  • House of Representatives Standing committee on the Environment
  • Parliament of the Commonwealth of Australia joint standing committee on Treaties
  • Coalition Backbench Agriculture policy committee
  • Coalition Backbench Trade & Investment committee
